sell your car, dude. get a volvo. faster, easier to mod, limited slip available, more parts available. better in snow.

driving in it, folks will think you're a parent or a liberal. and they may even compliment you on your terrific sense of automotive style: old volvos are, hands down, the finest looking european cars ever to come tooling down a placid suburban cul-de-sac.

but, btw, what's quirky about saabs? that the motor is mounted in the opposite direction than most? if changing a clutch in an hour (if yer good) is quirky, then i don't want "normal."

or is it the ignition switch between the seats? if having an accident and not impaling my knee cap on a set of keys is quirky, then i don't want "normal."

or maybe it's the heated seats that, until just a few years ago, came *standard* in saabs (and were introduced in the early *70s*). if having a warm @ss/back on a cold morning is quirky, then i don't want "normal."

or perhaps it's the motor. if having an engine that can go hundreds of thousands of miles is quirky, then i don't want "normal."

and did i mention the front wheel drive? if having a driveline that has come to *dominate* the automotive industry in the past 20 years is quirky, then i don't want "normal" (quiz: how many rwd cars has saab produced?).

of course, if having independent wishbone front suspension (since the *60s*), disk brakes all around (for *years*), windshield pillars that can support a rollover, heated mirrors for safety on cold mornings, a boost control system that was cutting edge when introduced in the early 80s and is *still* poached by volvo turbo owners for their cars, seats and dashboard design informed by principles of aircraft cockpit ergonomics, enough room (hatchbacks) to sleep two or haul more cr@p than will fit in most cars (or SUVs, for that matter), headlights that turn off by themselves (for *years*, and some cars still don't do this for some unknown reason), torque values from the mid-80s that are competitive with many similarly sized cars on the road today (e.g., 1.8L turbo Golf or Audi A4 and the butt-ugly Mitsu/Volvo wagon, all of which also weigh nearly the same as the c900), then, well, i guess i don't want "normal."
