You may not have a terminal case of car cancer but, give the car a good inspection. Chances are there is some rust in other places. Pay special attention to the lower right control arm area, front fender inner seams and the front portion of the rear wheel wells. The control arm area is crucial to the cars safety and a popular place for classic 900's to rust. If there is any there get it attended to soon....it can be fixed but if let go it will send the car to the junker.
Sorry for the induced panic that this may cause but if you want to keep the car rust is going to need attention.
I live in MA....for now....and I take every precaution I can to avoid rust. Wash often, wax often, use liberal amounts of WD-40 all over the place in the engine bay and in the body panels, and treated the cars with Waxoil before last winter.
Rust is a heartbreaker.
