Confuzed...I have a '91 SPG with a full-size whale-tail factory-installed at Trollhattan where I picked it up (THE last SPG built!) and it is indeed a true SAAB part. Problem with the drain holes is that they get plugged and it's hard to clear them; consequently wate will build up inside the tail and when you raise the lid the water will run out from wherever it finds an exit. The whale-tail is installed with epox and bolts so replacing one is not done in the backyard! I'm looking for the rubber trim for mine because it's starting to split at the sides (even for the garage-parked types). The tails are great...I have driven my SPG on the Autobahn (top-clocked speed was 158mph) and the whale tail serves well to keep it on the road. Normally I drive no more than 100-120mph and I know it's doing the job it was designed for (they look great too!). Again, the full-size whale-tails are still available (new in '91 about $750!) and are indeed gen-SAAB. JP...Heidelberg, Germany...
