I am considering changing my '90 900 turbo automatic transmission to a manual. The car has 194k miles with alot of new stuff on it. I love the car, Black and Tan 2 door hatch. I've read several notes on this board regarding the ease in doing so. Seems straight forward.
My donor car is a '90 900, base model with a new manual trans, 180k miles, also with alot of new parts that can be used also, steering rack, suspension parts, etc.
I was wondering if I should just convert and change the transmissions or should I change the engines and transmissions as a package. Of course I would have to change over the turbo parts as well.
Does anyone out there have an opinion? Are the differences between the turbo and non turbo significant enough to discourage changing the engine and transmissions as a package?
Thanks for weighing in.
George
