It sounds like it's not fully charged. How long have you had the battery? If you've had it in the car for a little while, then it might not be charging for a few reasons:
- Bad brushes in the alternator (relatively easy to fix)
- Bad ground wire from the alternator to the body (relatively easy to fix)
- bad ground attachment point from the negative battery cable (relatively easy to fix)
- burned-out Battery indication light (it's an integral part of the charging circuit - relatively easy to fix) Does this light come on when you turn the key to the Run position?
- Bad alternator diodes
If you just bought the battery (like yesterday or today) it's defective. Make them give you another one. If it's more than a few days old, put it on a charger overnight and check the brushes, ground wire, etc.
