Oh no! White Oil!?!?

Ok,
So I'm driving my '87 900T to work today, get close and notice that when I accelerate there is a distinct grindy/rubbing sound coming from the front passenger side and I notice it gets worse and worse. It doesn't happen when idling and coasting.
Luckily I get to work and look around the car for anything dragging/rubbing/dangling and find nothing.
This may be totally unrelated but I checked my fluids and the only strange thing was that the oil dipstick had a lot of thick white glop on the bottom, really gooey.
What's going on here? My car isn't overheating, though it tends to get hot, is it the head gasket? Could that cause the sound?
Nervous to drive again...
