a turbo question

I am having a leak somewhere on the pass. side of my engine on my 79 900 turbo. I started looking around and found a small amount of oil on the bottom of turbo. I began to get a little worried b/c it is a rebuild that I just put on. Well I noticed the rubber tube that connects the intake pipe to the turbo was oil soaked so I took off the inlet pipe. The inside of it had a considerable amount of oil in it. I cleaned the pipe and the outside of the turbo and put everything back together. Well I have driven it twice since and the oil on the outside of the turbo is no longer there but the inside of the pipe is still wet. By the way I didnt just notice oil on outside of it just once. It had been going on for 3 weeks. This is the first time I have ever been around a turbocharged engine and I am curious whether it is normal for some oil to pass through the seals in the turbo and go into the engine. Also does a rebuilt turbo sometimes require a break in period where it will leak until the seals take a set. Thanks a lot.
