I went to the parts store for a new set of wiper blades for my '84 900S. I had Bosch, liked 'em, and bought another set. I installed them and found that the blades are DIFFERENT! Very different.

The new Bosch 16" (#40716, I think) blades DON'T FIT THE CURVE of the C900 windshields. They stick out into thin air at the right edge of the passenger-side wiper (US model) at rest position. This also occurs at the left edge on the driver's side blade when at halfway point (both wiper arms pointing to driver's side).

After some frustration and extensive inspection, I concluded that the new Bosch blades do not have the ability to "bend up" in the middle to curve around the SAAB glass. ARRRRRGH!!! The blades were chattering with each sweep due to their ends being constantly off/on/off/on the glass! (Bosch folks, are you listening?)

What I did do to rectify this situation was to salvage my old 16" Bosch blades (which DID fit the SAAB windshield's curves) and buy cheap Trico narrow 16" rubber "squeegee" inserts to replace the old squeegees in the Bosch blades. With some patience and needlenose pliers, it works. Not quite the same, but better than before. Why? Well, it seems that the Trico rubber squeegee is taller (off the windshield surface) than the Bosch original stuff, because the squeegee leans/flops back and forth with each sweep now, whereas it didn't with original Bosch rubber. Or at least not that I could notice.

Why did Bosch have to change their design????
