I just replaced the clutch in my 89 900 Turbo. It took me about three hours but I had a certified SAAB master tech looking over my shoulder. The spacer tool may seem expensive for a thin peice of metal but compared to the cost of having your shop do it you're still coming out ahead. I recomend getting the tool it takes the guess work out of finding a suitable replacement. You'll need a helper to press in the clutch pedal to get the tool in the old clutch. Once the clutch is out of the car, use a hammer to tap the fingers of the clutch down as you pull the spacer out. If you don't have a press get a short lenth of metal pipe (like a 6" piece of 3" diameter or similar), jack up the back of the car and place the piece of pipe in the center of the new clutch, under the rear tire. Slowly lower the car so the tire presses the pipe onto the new clutch, depressing the fingers so you are able to get the spacer tool in place. After the new clutch is installed, do not let your helper press the clutch pedal in all the way. this will blow the seals in your slave cylinder and you will be screwed. Only press the clutch in enough to remove the spacer tool. This is a tricky and tedious repair, make sure you are up for it or find help.
