Well, I just wanted to let you know that these SAABs are equipped with a full-throttle AC cut-out (taken care of by the throttle position sensor--TPS-- & LH-Jetronic computer on your '91 900S) to let the engine accelerate unhampered when you need to floor it. This is true even back to the 8V 900s, like mine, though it is accomplished by a simple switch, no computer involved.
I just wanted to let you know the setup, above, and that the cold air stopping during full-throttle situations IS perfectly normal. However, the instant you back off of WOT (wide-open throttle), the A/C system is active again, so it sounded like yours didn't want to come back on after backing off of wide-open throttle situations. If taping up & insulating the blue wire JohnB pointed out at the a/c compressor DIDN'T fix it, your TPS might be going bad, but there could be other causes.
The throttle position sensor on your 900S is a potentiometer, which varies the resistance to the LH-Jetronic 2.4.2 (fuel injection computer) as you vary the throttle opening, giving the computer more info, than the simpler idle/full-throttle switch on 16V turbos and up through-'90 model 16V non-turbos. Boy, that can get complicated...
Hope this helps!
