I have an odd (I think) problem. I bought an 89 900T convertible a few months ago and have had problems with battery drain since I bought it, if I don't drive it every day it won't start when I want it to. Recently the CE light has started coming on for a few minutes, usually after I have had to jump start the car and now the car is running in "limp home" mode. The engine seems to be running fine, I just don't get any turbo boost.
The battery drain seems to be getting worse. I drove the car last night and this afternoon the battery was dead. The battery was brand new when I bought the car, so I geuss the battery might be starting to go bad now from such frequent charge/discharge cycles.
The questions I have are these:
- What might be causing the battery drain?
- What are the common problems that cause the CE light to illuminate and then go out after a few minutes?
- What are the common cuases of the "Limp Home" mode?
I have tried to isolate the battery drain by connecting an amp meter in line to the negative battery cable and pulling fuses to no avail. However, the amps being pulled when the car is off do not seem to be overly large, around 140mA.
Any information would be greatly appretiated.
