I have a 90 900 5 speed and I failed DC's brake inspection. The rear brakes are non-existent. After bleeding the front and trying to bleed the back (via ABS pump) I traced the problem at each brake joint (thinking it could be a clogged line) and found that the valve body is the culprit - brake fluid in but no brake fluid out - only to the rear brakes. Saab part number 9104951 (page 371-8/9 in Bentley number 296) and beaucoup bucks ($1700) from the dealer.
I can get one from a junk yard for $300 bucks with a 100 day warranty compared to the dealer it is a bargain. Should I go for it?
Do these go bad often? I only saw a few post in history.
Is there any preventive maintenance other than annual biannual bleeding? where are leeches when you need them ;)
Thanks,
Nick
