i'm sure that saab engineers would have spec'd one if it were necessary.

the oil in a turbocharged car gets much hotter than in an n/a because of the higher combustion temps and its dual-purpose of lubing the turbocharger, where temps aren't exactly cool.

also note that saab oil coolers have a temp-controlled valve. i'm curious to know if you might never generate hot enough temps to even open the valve. or, if n/a oil temps are close to the opening temp, if the valve wouldn't just open and close soon after oil flows through the cooler and cools.

change your oil regularly with any old oil that meets saab specs and don't worry.

if you are still concerned about your motor's longevity, surf over to Scott's listing of high-mileage saabs and put your mind at ease.
