The act of replacing brake pads in most all cars made since 1970 is a relatively simple task. I say "relatively" cuz there is little standardization, and various makers and countries have used a number of different styles and configurations in refining their disc brake systems. The Swedes, frinstance, have a great number of different brakes from several vendors in their cars down through the years. I have recently changed pads on an 84 900 Turbo, and on an '89. Yes, they both use replaceable pads, but the brakes look completely different, and the process differs in some details too.
Bottom Line: Get and Read the Bentley manual carefully before any job on your Saab. Second - check all Saab websites for faqs and published repair hints and pics. Third - find a Saab club in your area so that you have some experienced mentors for all your jobs.
YES, BUNKY, YEW KIN DO IT...BUT GO SLOW AND EASY! BOTCHED JOBS CAN KILL.
