I'm overdue for an inspection, but am sure the car, an 88 900 turbo conv, will need attention first to pass emissions.

it has has difficulty passing the last two times. a couple years ago the gas station (it was running fine, just needed emissions) replaced the o2 sensor - then got it to pass (I wasn't impressed with them and never went back). last year the shop said it wasn't passing emissions, then "cheated" the mixture or timing and got it to pass. I'm not a fan of this method, as I'd prefer it to be fixed properly to pass, and so then it can run correctly.

the car is not running great (to be honest I can't recall how long after they "cheated" it that it went south, as I wasn't the person driving it for several months). when cold, the idle will "hunt" and it will have no power and/or stall for the first few minutes. Once it's warmed up it won't stall, but i've been noticing the boost guage hardly even gets into the yellow, even at 5,000 rpms in 2nd. it does have some push at that point, but I suspect not as much power as it could have.

the cruise control is not currently functioning - thought I read on the board somewhere that there could be a relations.

anyway, I've looked, visually for vacuum problems (don't have a mity-vac). was hoping to find the "t" by the oil filter off, as the problems seem to be similar to when that happens, but all "looks" ok. I'm trying to find a respectable Saab mech in Huntington, LI, but am having little luck. there's a european auto place in town, though he seems to work mostly on benzes. hoping to arm myself with knowledge for whomever I can find to do the work.

if any one has some input, I'd be appreciative. Thanks, Brian
