1986 SPG, 233,000 miles

I've noticed lately that my car isn't holding high boost (that's the easy part of the diagnosis), but now that warm weather is here and my windows are open, I can smell a hot oil/rubber blast when the motor "stumbles" as the turbo gauge approaches 3/4 yellow. During the winter, it would hold 1/4 red steady, and bounced around in the 1/3-2/3 red range. Before that, it could hold 1/2 red after peaking around 3/4.

I plan to dismantle the intake between the turbo and the intake manifold, and inspect the rubber boots. The engine/tranny was r&r'd approximately 30,000 miles ago.

I've checked out the plugs (ngk, ~15,000 miles) and they were ok. They had a little extra gap, but re-setting them didn't change anything. Before I could smell the hot oily rubber, I surmised that the fuel couldn't keep up with the air, but now I think that the car is getting too much fuel because some air is leaking from the pressurized section of the intake.

I have replaced the fuel filter within the past 5,000 miles, and cleaned my K&N air filter two weeks ago. The car has magnecor ignition wires with approximately 50,000 miles, and they seem to have the same resistance as always.

So here's the question:

How can I tell where the intake is blowing out? How do I know whether or not the gases are escaping through a loose hose clamp? Is there a "known weak point" in the system?

I plan to remove the tubes and rubber connectors, and wash them out in the kitchen sink with dish detergent. Will this harm anything?

I'm used to taking things apart to try to diagnose a problem, and then not finding anything, and watching the "broken" device work again after re-assembly. However, that isn't nearly as satisfying as identifying the problem. Will I find a seam with oil dripping out? Perhaps a grommet in the manifold is loose?

And finally, if one of the rubber boots is cracked/split or otherwise shot, where can I find a replacement? My first guess would be a used part from one of the saabnet sponsors. What should I expect for a price quote?
