I'm not sure on the '83T but I know on the '84-'85 base & S & '84 T this can be caused by the CIS computer thermoswitch letting the CIS computer "listen" to the signal from the O2 (oxygen) sensor too early. It does this when the switch "opens" electrically too early, as it is normally "closed" electrically when cold, completing a ground (earth--for you UK folks) circuit for the deceleration relay (which locks CIS fuel frequency valve's pulse width at 60 percent). Sorry for all the technical terms.

All this means is that the thermoswitch might be your problem. If I remember my Bentley 8V manual correctly, the '83T will have a WHITE-tipped thermoswitch (color & temp specification for switch changed in 1984 and again in 1986) screwed into the thermostat housing, just below the point at which the upper radiator hose exits the engine. The white switch has two wires going to it--one green & one white, I think.

Unplug the wires and short them together (hold them together and fasten with tape).

Now, if your motor is cold, start it and see if idling problems are solved. If motor is warm, then wait several hours until it has cooled to cold start temperatures (motor temp equal to outside air temp).

If this solves the warmup acceleration issue, then I'd look for a black or red thermoswitch from the newer 900 8V cars. (Preferably red switch...see my other posts for more info.)

If the above does NOTHING, then I'd suspect moisture in distributor cap, failing spark plug wires, ignition coil high tension wire, or fouled spark plugs. (And that's not a comprehensive list--anyone else feel free to chime in here!)
