Henry,
I don't think you would want to try a caliper swap between these two. For one item, the two cars have different setups for emergency brakes (e-brakes act upon front calipers up through 1987 900, on rear calipers on 1988 and newer 900). The two calipers are not similar in design, to my knowledge, and the pads are different. Therefore, I don't think if the 1985 rotors would work in the '90, either.
I'd just get new rotors and pads, if I were you.
Also, the CV joint design (axle length?) changed in between 1985 and 1990, so I think you're out of luck there, too. Someone with CV experience should correct me or elaborate on this one.
