I had the same quandry: a newly acquired C900, further complicated by the fact that the gerbox now has nasty=smelling GL5 of questionable viscosity (probably 80W90). After posting the question and contacting every real expert I know, I decided that the first step is to ensure that what I change to is as close as possible to what's in there now, so I'll try some more nasty smelling GL5, but of known correct viscosity: 75W. It can't be any worse than leaving what's already in there, and there's no issue of compatiblity. If that still leaves the transmission shifting crummy, I'll change yet again to Honda MTF (Allegedly sweet boquet GL-4). That leaves the "Big Gun" (BG synchroshift) or RedLine MTL as the fall-back lubes.
This sequence also happens to be in order of increasing costs.
10W30 conventional motor oil is the factory recommendation, but that's already been rendered moot by the PO.
