Clarion in '90 C900, the CD player won't fit - - - - - Posted by vsfoxe [Email] (#1025) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vsfoxe) on Fri, 6 Jun 2003 11:56:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Perhaps someone can guide me/tell me where I've gone wrong?
'90 SPG, original Clarion Radio, with original Clarion EQ. Wanted a CD-player.
My cars (both '90 SPGs) have Equalizer 02 47 023, and basket 95 27 979 (white plastic 2-prong plug & DIN cable). I believe both cars are OEM setups.
'94 Saab Accessory booklet says CD Player for '89-'91 900 = 02 47 528, and "uses same basket as the Equalizer". (an *asterisk says requires bracket 02 47 163 - which seems to be a vibration damping thing-a-ma-jig, according to my local Saab dealer). No other notes. 1990 Accessory booklet has the same info.
SO: I go to a salvage yard, find a '93 9000 CSE, check the CD-player - Great! - it's 02 47 528, so I buy it. But it won't plug into my existing EQ rack! It needs 2 vertically parallel plugs, not the single plug that exists in my rack?
HMM! I go back and get the 9000 CSE rack (40 83 044), but it has 3 strange pull/release (green, red & yellow) connectors - not similar to the connections of the existing rack in my SPG.
I'm baffled! Any suggestions? What's wrong? Please help! TIA.
