Had a strange whistle only under boost, similar to blowing on a blade of grass between your thumbs. Tried to track it down under hood with a stethoscope, but silent at idle and also when throttle was cranked at the throttle body. As soon as I would drive it, the whistle would return.
Slept on it, and the next morning I realized that it was truly boost related so that when revving the engine in neutral the driveway, boost would be minimal and no whistle. So I inspected the small hose coming from the valve cover nipple and found a small split on the intake side of the check valve hidden under the thick foam insulating hose. This split would only whistle when the check valve was shut due to boost. I was so pleased with myself, I started whistling.
