from a Saab... For the 2.5 years I've owned it, it has been to a Saab indie shop once. I'll never take it there again, either. (A long story in itself). But no, my sound is not the A/C pulley to the best of my knowledge. It's not quiet, but not that noisy either.
I've asked the site before for a recommended Saab shop within reasonable distance from Federicksburg, Va. Seems I've got to drive an hour before I find one (I guess I live in a Saab free zone). The reason I state this is that I really don't know which sounds are Saab unique and good and which ones are Saab unique and bad. This 'SSS' sound just happens to top my list of soon-to-fail sounds,
I saw a post on folks getting together and for $50.00 or so evaluating Saab's . I'd be all over that.
I guess the bottom line is that my sound doesn't fit the characteristics of a bad pinion gear, and for that I am greatful....
