Well, I've had to deal with a lot of ignition/key issues with my 82T, and because I'm the DIY sort, I've solved all those issues. The last effort involved an ignition column replacement after the column sheared off at it's base and pulled out still attached to the key. Instead of having to buy a new one with a new key I decided to just replace the broken column unit with a good used one pulled from a J-yard car and swap the key tumblers. In the process I ended up refurbishing the entire unit. Very locksmithian type of work with little tools, solvents, fine files and a magnifying lens. The starter switch itself is easily removed and replaced if that is the problem.

An initial problem involved very stiff key movement when first starting. Once the shift assembly (along with the ignition system) warmed up from the cat convertor just below it, the ignition loosened. The solution was to clean out all the accumulated dried oils, lubricants, coke spills and dirt from around the starter switch gearing and reverse lock mechanism below the ignition column, which is accessible by removing the bottom of the shifter assembly. I removed the entire assembly from the car, but it would be possible to gain access to the bottom base plate by turning the shifter assembly on it's side and working at it from within the car. This would save you the trouble of disturbing the shift rod-to-transmission selector shaft connection. In that case all you'll need do is remove the stick shift before turning the assembly on it's side.

Aside from all that, you could get away with just saturating the ignition with a lub solvent like WD40 and working the key back and forth (start/stop) until it loosens up.
