Hi,

I have a 1987 900TC and a 1989 900TC with very different oil dipsticks. The 87 has a red cap with part number 9161650 and the 89 has a black cap with part number 7514201.
The problem is the length of the two as well as the min/max marks are quite different. The red capped one is 24" total length, measure from the top of the cap to the tip of the metal dipstick. The black capped one is 23 1/2 total length. Measuring the min/max marks, the red one's "MAX" mark is 20 3/8" while the black one is 19 5/8". The red "MIN" mark is 22 3/8" and the black one is 21 1/4".

Is this not asking for trouble? The 87 origianlly had a Auto Trans so I'm wondering if the shop replaced the original dipstick with the one off the 5-speed trans donor car, a 1983 900S.

Any Ideas?
