New England (at least Maine, where I live) uses lots of salt. If I remember right, the local Road Maintenance (Public Works) Department has a goal during storms of keeping the snowfall on roadways in a "slurry form" (runny slush). There may be some work arounds. It's tough on metal!
When I wanted a red 90 SPG, I bought one from California. No rust, gold anodized fasteners are still gold-colored, no flaking rust, hardware not rusted together - you get the picture. It cost an extra buck or two, but is well worth it, if I have to work on it! It gets stored from 1st snowfall, to a month after snow leaves, (so rain can help wash salt-contaminated junk off the roads). Hope it lasts!
