Replacing the head gasket is a BUNCH of work. Buy the OEM parts from one of the reputable sites on here.
I replaced the head on an 89 Turbo with a head from an 87 900S. The 89 Turbo head had a broken exhaust valve and 160K miles on it. The 900s head had lead what seemed like a virtuous life and had 90 K on it.
I used all the info on the townsend site. It was great. I messed up the cam timing by one tooth, and that was the only problem.
Besides the obvious broken valve issue, I rationalized swapping heads because I belived the 900S head had experienced fewer temp cycles, high temps, etc. etc. Also, since the head had gotten hot enough to burn (break) one exhaust valve, I figured the rest were not far behind.
I removed the 900S head, cleaned it up a little (the gasket surface only, with a putty knife) and swapped the intake cam with the turbo head. Bolted the head on and it worked great. Search on my name on here and you'll catch the discussion about this project.
Note that this was a later style 89 T, with an early 16 valve head. Keep the valve cover with the head, they are different. Early valve covers use a thinner valve cover gasket then older ones do, so be aware.
I picked up the entire engine/trans for less than $100 at a pic-a-part junkyard, I figured the very good 900S head cost me about $30.
Good Luck. email me if you like.
