This message is meant to pass on lessons learned. I believe I know the problem source and have fixed it.
90 900S had aftermarket alarm installed. Car starts fine, but on hot days would not re-start after being shut off. The starter solenoid would click, but the starter would not turn. Will start after 4-10 attemps, but I'm wearing out keys.
Replaced the starter, same problem.
After excellent advice on this board, determined that the starter solenoid is VERY voltage sensitive. It wants 12 volts, not 11.5 volts or 11 volts. The junk the technician installed when they installed the alarm system was dropping the voltage enough to cause a problem when the car was warm.
Ripped out the alarm. Returned the wiring to original configuration.
Problem solved.
Hope this helps.
