I have mixxed feelings over 14 years of driving Saabs (minus the '77 classic Grenada hand-me down.. 302 Boss was fun- straight ONLY). Two weeks ago the current ride left me stranded for the first time in 14 years (dead fuel pump) and after doing my wifes 99 VW Jetta records- I pay 1,458% more in maintenace (yup- I'm that anal)! The newer cars are better is so many ways!! Maintenance, safety, toys, etc... (even though I owe my life to a '89 900S- cops could not believe I walked away). I agree about looks, but the right thing is out there if you are willing to pay.
With all of that said- I just feel comfortable in my Saab- same reach everytime for the knobs, same front end-plow I've learned to control (a bit), seat-eye to the road thing too. If I do buy another- I think I'll always keep a Saab around.
Looking at Lotus- we'll see. And a late-model 9000 have finally grown on me! I drove the Cadilac CTS- I was impressed across the board (compared to a 93 too)- I think this car has some real hidden potential. The new Jags are also sweat!
