Hey, I'm in Ridgefield. I do try some DIY work, mostly cosmetic though. Changed dash facia and tons of switches myself. My headliner is ok except the sunroof portion. Was going to go to upholstery shop I know (EWE) if Fairview. They did some nice work for me before on seats, and pretty cheap. There's also a small shop near where i work in LIC, might try them. I'm going to replace my hood, replace chrome bumper strips, etc. I want to pull my driver seat, then the console to address intermittent reverse light switch issues, and while I have the seat out, tighten the steering column u-joint. I'd really like to remove SRS, and go w/a MOMO wheel. Understand I need earlier steering column. Mine is a 90. Anyway, I try to do what I can, and could always use experienced help.
The two Saab indies around here are both "old friends", but they tend to be expensive. There's also one near my job, but not sure if he allows "bring your own parts". My GREAT mechanic, who was at the Sunoco in Ridgefield, just opend his own shop, all the way in Oakland! I'll go to him for stuff I can't do. I will need a new PS rack, and he'll let me bring my own, etc.
Thanks for offering to help, and hopefully we'll meet.
