Front brakes is a straight forward job. PBR pads, either deluxe or metal masters can be had for around $20. You can also get lifetime from Autozone or similar parts house for the same. Unless your rotors are gouged or have been turned to many times you can get them turned at your local shop for around $10 ea. Of course you could also buy new calipers if you get the dreaded clunk applying brakes exiting your driveway. It is recommended that you get the hardware kit with new pads. It has also been recommended to use anti squeal compound on the back of your pads.
In short: follow the Bentley & go for it.
