perhaps it was the shot bump stops on the front of my 87 900T.
I switched to tokico fronts and rears and that seemed to improve things, but still felt very bumpy on compression. Turns out the front bump stops were shot and things improved mightily with new bumpstops. $120 a pair with good discount from the Saab dealer, perhaps you can get them cheaper elsewhere. Be careful with those screw on spring compressors. Use the car weight and jackstands to compress the springs as much as possible before you put on the compressors. Then tighten the compressors a half turn or more and lift the car off the jack stand...the spring should come right out, you pry off the old bump stop and put on the new one and put the spring back in! Should take about 15minutes per side once you figure out the trick.
There's only about 1 1/2 to two inches of travel at the spring perch before the bottom spring perch hits the bump stop.
