How to replace your crappy/crumbling window scrapers:
1. Ensure you get the proper length from your supplier!
2. Lower window
3. Remove inner door panel/door lock knob/etc
4. Remove inner door scraper, clean with wet rag.
5. Remove existing outer door scraper, it should pry/pull straight up out of the S-clip. You will destroy the scraper in the process.
6. With the scraper remove you are now looking at the molding with the S-clips. You could see the clips with the scraper in place but I think this way is easier. Start at the back; the door/handle end.
7. Take a thin screw driver and wiggle the S-clips while lifting straight up with you other hand on the molding. Insert the blade into one side of the S-clip and it should wiggle up and away. Work slowly, get one S-clip up 1/4-1/2 way move onto next one.
8. As you move forward, you may notice that the front edge of the molding is under your side view mirror. Get the molding up as much as possible and pull the molder back out of the 'hole.'
9. Notice the shadow left on the molding by the old scraper. Ensure that the scraper you have is the proper length. You should not need to cut anything. Install the new scraper. The new sraper goes all the way into the clip.
10. Watch for bows/wrinkles on the scraper as the molding is curved. Push/pull the scraper in the molding until the scraper is 'smooth.'
11. Install in reverse. The one tip I have is regarding the door panels. I found that if you intall the door lock knob thru the panel on the door you don't have to fight to get the rod thru the hole as you engage the top portion of the panel.
12. Be careful the molding is easy to bend!
