Hi People,

I've just had my leaking engine resealed at a Saab service. Happy to invest a big sack of bucks to get a professional, I thought, service, I found a fresh leak of oil a couple days after the repair.

I found the leak comes from the right side of the engine body, just behind the exhaust manifold, next to where the head joins the engine block and the black plastic clutch cover.

I rushed back to the station to make a complaint. Left the car for 2 days. When I got back they told me they'd changed the clutch shaft seal that was the reason for the leaks and "all's OK".

But when I started the car I felt strange vibrations at some revs shaking whole my baby. They told me It's because a bad/worn clutch disk/bearing gets into vibrations. I asked them why it was OK before the repair and now is bad. They said they "touched" it while replacing the seal and old parts work until you touch them.

I thought, sh...t, next costs on the way.

I went back home and garaged the car for a night. Guess what I found under my Saab. Yeah..., she was all wet in oil.

I ran to Saab asking them what's going on. Again left the car for a couple of hours. They said they checked it and again it was leaking because of the bad clutch kit and a bearing was cutting the seal. So it's not worth replacing the seal again before having replaced the clutch kit. Of course I should buy the kit from them, then the seal will go under warranty and I'll get it free.

Having said that I have 3 questions to you.
1) Do you agree with the Saab people who say a bad clutch kit damages the clutch shaft seal?
2) Can the vibrations source in a bad clutch kit? If not - what are other possible causes?
3) Can the oil leak come from another part of engine, for ex. from under the head gasket?

Thanks for any clues.

Greets, Pit
