TM,
I'd suspect a low charge of freon instead of the anti-frost switch. A SAAB tech once told me that the anti-frost switch will fail in one of two ways:
1) Compressor never stops--switch stuck closed making circuit permanently. This is what happened to my first '84 900S. It never cycled the compressor on and off, which led to the evaporator icing over, which severely restricted airflow into the cabin.
2) Compressor never runs at all--switch stuck "open," breaking circuit.
Bubbles in the sight glass--checked while engine running and a/c is on--indicate some loss of freon. I'm no expert on a/c, in fact that's about all I know, listed above. I guess if you have specs for the freon charge (pressure), and an a/c guage, you could check it yourself. Other than that, I'd say take it to a mechanic.
Hope this helps!
