It's a two folded problem. The key and tumbler is worn Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Thu, 17 Jul 2003 13:54:45 In Reply to: 5th gear question, Luis, Thu, 17 Jul 2003 12:36:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
out or just filled with dirt. That's why you can remove key in any directions.
Sometimes it's possible to get the tumbler going by using WD-40 rust oil, but don't count to much on it. You might end up having to replace the tumbler and key.
The reverse lock out is adjustable. Remove shifter knob and look down into the center of shifter. You will see a slot with a wire. Move shifter to left while pulling the reverse lock ring. let go of lock ring but keep pressure on the shifter. That way the wire will stay up out of the slot and you can use a thin screwdriver to rotate the wire/rod counter clock wise about 3-4 turns.
That will probably restore the reverse lock out function.
