Hey Ed, Having just spent two months trying to get my 88 SPG running and thanks to the expert help of Aaron G. here is a summary of a few things to start with: 1. check your timing, being off a tooth can cause heating probs, 2. check all vac hoses and replace all that are old 3. then check for base boost-unplug your APC and go for a ride. The boost neeedle should go half way into yellow. Adjust the wastegate rod accordingly. Assuming you did a tune up after completing the head gasket you may want to run some good injector cleaner in your gas. Let me know what you find. Bob
