My 900 n/t ran well enough, but it seemed at times that engine throttle response was not quite right.
1. If you floored the throttle, there was a lag, and a backfire in the airbox (not an exhaust backfire),
2. On mild to hard acceleration, the engine would bog down between 2,000 and 2,500 rpm, then accellerate smoothly.
I took it to the shop, and they replaced the plugs, fuel filter, and the coolant temperature. Looking at the state of the plugs, there was a reddish deposit which may be the result of either an octane booster, or contaminated gas. I suspect the former, as looking at plugs now, they are normal.
Problem is that since picking the car up, the engine will not idle below 1,500, and is usually around 2,000 rpm. Also, the acceleration is much improved, however, you have to drive the car flat out. In other words, it will only pull cleanly on full throttle. If you use part throttle, the engine has no power.
Can anyone suggest what might be the problem here?
