What brand is your louvers? I have an after market brand, I'm not near the car. Its metal, says something like SHADOW. The SAAB catalog louvers, I think, were plastic. Hence many do not exist any longer.
Your mounting sounds exactly like mine. The top hinges slide under the window gasket. Then they determine where the bottom post/receiver are located, under the gasket as well. Mine used double sided tape, I used 3M. Mine did not have a slot for the brake light, hence I was lucky to find one for my 1985. When I got mine in the mail the PO had simply broken the rear window to remove the mount plates. Took me a day to get the glass nuggets off the brackets.
Send me your email and I'll send you some photos maybe in a day or so.
