Probably not the alternator. If you were truly losing voltage, you'd see it in headlights, instruments, blower fan, and probably engine cut-out.
Most likely the ground connection for the radio is bad. The ground connection is buried in the dash. I don't have a schematic in front of me, but I'll bet that ground connection is shared with a few other items, like the turn signal relay. If you've got a bad ground, and then stuff even more current through it, very interesting things happen.
Turn signal/brake light issues are common on the hatchback 900 - weird stuff like turn signals not working when you hit the brakes, and the like. Make sure that the ground connections at the rear light clusters are good - remove the wire from the ground lug, and polish the area with fine sandpaper or Scotchbrite. How can a ground problem at the back affect the radio? Don't ask - ground problems are nasty. If cleaning up the rear connections don't work, make sure the radio ground connections are good. If it's too much of a nightmare getting to the radio ground connection in the dash, run yourself a new ground wire to chassis.
