Headgasket replaced and now Clicking and High Idle.....

Heya,
Picked up my SPG from the shop today, got the headgasket fixed. Fired it up in the shop parking lot, everything was cool, idle at 900 RPMs, drove away following my Mom who drove me to the shop in her old Volvo, as you can imagine, the drive back was very slow, so I wasn't on it at all.
For the first 15 minutes, everything is cool, no problems. Boosted to about 5-7 PSI just to get a feel. At the first stop sign (15 minutes away from the shop), the idle creeps up to 1,200 RPMs, while I wait for the other cars to go. I called the mechanic that minute, he said it happened to him and it should go down as the car breaks in. Kept driving. Got home, pulled in the driveway, before I turned off the car I popped the hood to check for vacuum leaks which may be causing the high idle, there was none. There is a loud clicking/tapping/clapping coming from the rear of the valvecover (tensioner?), not the belts, but inside the cover.
Although it looks like it could be the tensioner, does anyone have any other suggestions to what I may look for? Can I fix it myself? If not, how much would it cost to have fixed? And if it is, why would the idle (now) be at like 1,400 RPMs.
Sheesh, what a car ( :
Thanks guys!
Taylor
