leaks and rust are the bane of a classic 900 owner's existance..
so having already spent an unreasonable amount of money on my wife's 85 4 door turbo (brake upgrade, tranny rebuild, new shleby rims, dashboard, stereo/speakers, etc....what can i say, we love the car) i find a rather large puddle on the passenger side floor while cleaning the car last weekend. so, i vaccuum up all i can without puling up the carpet, and leave the floormat off to let it dry the rest of the way (this usually works). this weekend we are driving around and a wet spot shows up where my foot has been resting. SO, when i get home,i pull off the trim, pull up the carpet to find a major puddle, and ants! vaccuum it up to find the floor RATHER rusty. it is very soft, but not all the way through.
using a hose, i determine that the leak is coming from the evaporator housing. i have heard of this, but only if it is clogged. i am religious about keeping it clean, and even installed some mesh behind the hood openings to help keep stuff out. so, it is clean, and the drain at the bottom is working, yet water is still getting in! help...
