Also, I hope 4 inches is the circumference of the thickness of your steering wheel. Wheelskins wants the circumference (around the outside of the steering wheel) and the grip circumference.
I tend to think 4 inches is wrong, simply because pi is an irrational number, 3.13159, implying the diameter of your steering wheel is 1.27 inches.
These things tend NOT to be a round number, in other words. Go take a string and measure the grip circumference as well as the wheel circumference and send them to wheelskins.
One other thing, depending on your preference, you can bury the string or lash the string around the missing holes when you go around the spokes of your steering wheel. You need to count exactly the number of holes you're skipping on the front and skip that many on the back when you sew on the wheelskin. I prefer to continue the stitch on the front of the skin which necessitates simply skipping the back holes...but you do need to double up on the holes on either side of the spoke. Be real careful to pull tight enough to pull the skin together on either side of the spoke, but not so tight that you pull the string through the hole, ripping the skin. Then you get to start all over. Ask me how I know this.
Last tip...wear a pair of mechanics or thin leather gloves. You will get a blister on your finger (hmmm, sounds like a sound track/lyric) if you don't.
