Hi,
I agree with what Randy said about the pre-pump. It makes sense with what your symptoms are because when you make a left turn, centrifugal (or is it centripetal?) force sloshes the gasoline in the tank (and your coffee, etc.) to the RIGHT of the car (objects in motion tend to stay in motion, after all). So, all the gas goes to the RIGHT, away from the pump(s), which are mounted on the left (driver's side) of the tank.
Make sure when you change it that you buy a new little filter/strainer for the pre-pump ("filter sock").
A few years ago, the pre-pump went bad on my previous '84 900S. Cost: $60 for unknown-name brand pre-pump from Advance Auto Parts, plus $6 for pre-pump "filter sock" (I would by from site sponsors if/when I have to do it again, though). Do yours now; I had to change my pre-pump in Dec. in 20°F weather!!!
