Re: Pinion Bearing Noise- To Rebuild or Not to ReBuild? Posted by Nick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Pinion Bearing Noise, 90-900S, Thu, 24 Jul 2003 22:18:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks guys. I know there is no clear answer. Read some posts where car has gone years and thousands of miles with pinion noise and others that failed shortly. It's fate! Seems there are two options. Go in now and do a rebuild and spend a minimum of $2,000 or wait till the whole tranny is trashed and get a replacement for $3,000. The gamble is how many miles I can get with this noise. If I can get another 10K-30K miles it will be worth the extra $1,000 bucks and I will have a fairly new transmission. Chances are if I do a rebuild now it may need other gears and it could run over $2,000 anyway. Get my drift? Why not wait it out and earn interest on the money. Any opinions on this logic or lack therof?
