The drivers side cooling fan is supposed to come on with the A/C. The passenger side fan is coming on at about the right temperature.
If you're getting up to within a hair's breadth of the red on the temperature gauge even with the fan running, then I suspect that it's time for a new radiator. Sometimes flushing doesn't get all of the deposits out of the radiator tubes. Back North, I've had radiators fail from the outside - the fins sometimes corrode away to a salty dust.
If you haven't changed the thermostat in the last 2 years, you may want to consider replacing it on general principles. Being a long time denizen of the BB, you know that one of the failure modes is failing closed. Get an OEM type from one of the site sponsors.
