I would suggest that the converse is happening - that the idle dip is causing an expected knock, as the ignition timing retards/readvances/restabilizes (should be able to observe w/timing light)
Is noise localized at the rear of engine (front of engine bay) w/stethoscope, screwdriver, or rubber hose to the ear?
But you are saying that noise is very similar to bad past bearings...?
General bad conrod bearing test - rev engine up to ~3500K and abruptly let off throttle: any noise? Or they are generally louder as you rev engine, and esp over 3500 RPM. And generally can be isolated to one cylinder
Suggest adjusting idle as best as possible (maybe you've already done?)
http://216.78.172.32/tuneup_folder/adj_basic_idle_lh2.1.htm
may be of some help & search BB/other sources
Thorough ck for vacuum leaks, and basic tune-up items in good shape (plugs, wires, distrib cap, rotor, filter_s_, ck/clean AIC, ck/adjust TPS, other sensors, etc). Are you hearing a slight miss during the idle dip? And sounds like dip occurring mostly w/cold, but not hot engine?
And lots of good info here & on Perf BB wrt APC & boost
