I forget which one goes in the '88. I'll have to look again an let everyone know.
My observations of the AIC valve were when I took it off to clean it, the rotary valve inside wasn't free-moving. It was spring-loaded, and it took a bit of effort with the eraser-end of a pencil to move it around. I read on the board somewhere yesterday that whacking it might help when it starts hunting. When I got home yesterday, after 15 minutes of some SERIOUS idle hunting (200-1200 RPM), I whacked it with the rubber handle of some pruning shears in my garage and it stopped hunting (yeah, all my tools are in the basement, so it was the only thing handy). It settled into its normal range of ~800RPM. Part of my concern is that I don't want to pay alot for a part and have it NOT be the problem, although I am fairly certain. The vacuum-leak search hasn't yielded anything useful.
