There are two wires running to the door lock actuator. To unlock, one wire (call it A) is grounded, and the other (call it B) gets 12 volts. The actuator extends and unlocks the door.
To lock it, A gets 12 volts and B is grounded. Both wires run directly from the door lock actuator (in the door) to the door lock control unit.
The Driver's door lock doesn't have an actuator - only the key locks and unlocks it. There are three wires connected to the driver's door lock.
OK, so what? Either the two wires to the passenger door lock actuator have gotten swapped, or two of the wires for the driver's door lock have been swapped.
If the trunk lock is working properly, then I'd focus in on the passenger side door. The actuator wires (and incidentally, the wing mirror control) run through a connector at the door jamb. Maybe that was somehow disturbed. Unlikely, but there it is.
The other place is at the Door lock controller. The ECU on a 900 is on the passenger side on top of the floor ventilation duct, secured by a bracket. When you say Down Here, I assume it's the US (Florida, Texas, etc), so passenger side is the right hand side. If Down Here is Really Down Here (Australia), then things will be different. It's possible that in the messing about of the AC system some wires were pulled out and swapped. That's pretty unlikely, but the best I can come up with.
Of course, if a ground connection comes loose, all bets are off. So check the grounds in the area that was worked on.
My guess is that the mirror issue is separate. The problem could be either the switch or a bad motor. The best I can suggest is to find a manual (The Haynes is best) along with a voltmeter and start checking.
