tripod bearing-how to tell "good from bad"

I'm in the process of replacing the outer driver's side CV joint and thought I'd inspect the tripod bearing for wear. The boot surrounding the driver looks good--full of grease and no tears. I cleaned up the bearing to get a good look at it and it all seems good. No pitting, needle bearings are all intact. When I ordered the CV joint from eEuroparts I went ahead and ordered both boots, grease, tripod bearing, cv joint and axle nut--- just in case I needed them. Should I go ahead and replace the tripod bearing anyway? Even if it looks good?
Thanks!
