While you're taking the slack out with control rod knob, get out a 5mm allen and adjust the hook latch up a bit to take the slack out there. This will quiet the car over rough roads. The noise you think is the rear deck bouncing might very well be the hatch bouncing on a loose hook. Just did it on mine, very satisfying to stop the clunk.
